A native of Northeast Ohio, Rachel Quatkemeyer grew up in a little brown house surrounded by horse pastures in Brimfield township, but don't ask her to saddle a horse. She can't do that.
By day, Rachel is a Certified Healthcare
Documentation Specialist with a special interest in Medical Genetics, Maternal
Fetal Medicine, and Ophthalmology. When Rachel is not transcribing medical
dictation, writing, home-schooling, or taxiing her boys to and from doctor’s appointments,
various autism-related therapies, and Cub Scouts, she can often be found waiting
endlessly on hold with their health insurance company. Despite what many think,
she is not hooked to 24/7 IV drip of coffee. She probably should be.
While her husband and both sons all live with Asperger syndrome, Rachel wants people to know that first and foremost, "They are amazing people. They have challenges and weaknesses that we work around or try to build up. Above all else, they are remarkably sweet people with many strengths and talents."

Rachel enjoys sunshine and simple
things, and if she could bring only one
non-living item with her to a secluded island, it would be her Kindle Fire. In
her spare time--time she should be sleeping but isn’t—Rachel is a writer
and has published numerous times in healthcare magazines. This Extraordinary
Life is her first book.
